Dumisani Ngobese was born in very poor circumstances to only be able to eat. His grandmother, a street vendor worker, is his sole source of income. He has 10 children and five women who are dependent on her earnings. After a lot of hardwork, Ngobese proudly holds his UKZN degree. People are quick to judge Ngobese’s attire for the ceremony. He was unable afford a suit, so he wears black t-shirts and black pants. But Ngobese’s story captured the attention of people around the world, inspiring many and leaving them in tears.

Dumisani’s picture was posted online of the graduation event. He couldn’t hold back his tears at his victory over struggle and getting graduated despite poverty and insufficient resources. Ngobese clearly stated that he could not afford a suit for ceremony. His grandmother couldn’t attend the ceremony due to her health. He was accompanied by his aunt and mother.
