It is upsetting to hear about the sudden demise of the actress Régine Zylberberg who has gone from the world. She was 92-years-old and maybe, she died due to her health issues. Régine Zylberberg was born on December 26, 1929 in Etterbeek, Belgium. Her parents was Polish Jewish and spent her much time of her in hiding from the Nazis in occupied wartime France. After the war, she became a torch singer and by 1953, she became a manager of a nightclub in Paris. She is attributed with the invention of the modern-day discotheque, by virtue of creating a new dynamic atmosphere at Paris Whisky a Gogo, with the ubiquitous jukebox replaced by disc jockeys utilizing linked tumbales. Later, she opened Chez Regine in the Latin Quarter in 1957, which became a place to be seen for visiting celebrities, socialites, and royalty. As her popularity started to spread she established other venues under the name Chez Regine’s in London. Also in New York City, Monte Carlo, and elsewhere. In the 1970s, she moved to New York and lived in a suite of the Delmonico Hotel, where she opened one of her clubs on the ground floor of the hotel.

Later in April 1996, she and her son were arrested for refusing to comply with crew requests and smoking on an American Airlines flight. She even demanded a first-class upgrade, but the airline declined.
