While in Belgium, she was bitten by a mosquito and later became infected. She visited A&E on 7 July 2021 to have her health checked and received antibiotics. After two days, the antibiotics failed to work and she was admitted to the hospital.

She lost consciousness before she was transferred to the hospital. Her boyfriend drove her there, but she still lost the fight for her life three days later. Senior coroner Nigel Parsley announced her death. According to his statement, Pepper died “as a consequence of a serious infection caused by an insect bite on the forehead.” The bite also causes blood channel obstruction in Pepper’s brain. James Hall, her boyfriend, was devastated to learn about this sad news.

After completing her training, she was able to become a commercial pilot. Oriana Pepper was 21 years old. After completing her theory tests in Oxford, she was able to obtain her instrumental rating in Belgium. She was a member of Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk.
