Nikki Finke Cause Of Death, How Did Deadline Founder Die? What Happened To Her Explored! According to One Take News’ most recent tweet, Nikki Finke (founder of Deadline) has died at the age 68. All @DEADLINE staff and her family send their condolences. Deadline, her publication, confirmed the news. Her long-running online column “Deadline Hollywood”, launched by Finke. She published first-person accounts of what she saw in the entertainment industry, and did not hesitate to criticize the most prominent names in the industry. Many people below the lines loved her sarcastic, biting writings, which called out wrongdoings and people as she thought fit. However, she annoyed many in the C-suites, who are used to only praise.

Finke’s frank and uncompromising attitude angered many of the biggest names in showbiz, but others were enthralled. Finke would update her story with her trademark “TOLDJA “, and credit any new information when significant exclusives were confirmed either by comms or publicists. Finke’s “live-snarking” of Hollywood awards events, including the Emmys, Oscars, and Golden Globes, was one of her most famous — or infamous — jobs. To several live blogs, she added disclaimers such as ” Come to the cynicism… Stay for the subversion” or “Not for those easily offended or absurdly ignorant”. There were no limits on the executive, producers, celebrities or subjects back then, as well as in any Deadline post.

“At her best, Nikki Finke embodied the spirit of journalism. She was always hesitant, to tell the truth in blunt terms with a mysterious edge. Jay Penkse was the founder, chairman, and CEO of Penske Media Corporation. Penske bought Finke’s blog back in 2009. “Nikki wasn’t always easy, but she will always remain one of the most remarkable people in my life,” the speaker stated. Finke, a Long Island native, was a journalist for some of the most influential media outlets before Deadline. He was a correspondent in Moscow for the Associated Press, in London, and Los Angeles for Newsweek.

Nikki Finke was the West Coast Editor for the New York Observer, and a Hollywood writer. She was also a Southern California public radio broadcaster who hosted a program about the entertainment industry. She began her career at LA Weekly in 2002 as a “Deadline Hollywood” journalist. Here she covered politics, business, and culture within the entertainment and media industries. Finke purchased the domain for 14 and started Deadline Hollywood Daily in March 2006. This was to provide a faster way to report on breaking entertainment news than her weekly column. Dow Jones’ MarketWatch Los Angeles magazine called Finke a “must-read” and New York Observer named him the “Media Mensch Of The Year.”

Finke’s coverage of the 2007-2008 writers’ strike and many insiders scoops about it, Deadline, and by extension, her were indelibly etched in the media consciousness of Hollywood. Finke was appointed the publication’s Editor in Chief and General Manager following Penske’s PMC’s acquisition of Deadline Hollywood. In 2009, Deadline became a trusted source for industry news and insider information. PMC eventually took control of all three major trade journals in Hollywood, Deadline and Variety.
